Centre for Freedom of the Media - Stakeholders

The Centre for Freedom of the Media (CFOM) is a research and advocacy centre based at the Department of Journalism Studies of the University of Sheffield. It focuses on media freedom issues worldwide employing a variety of perspectives and tools. Besides traditional academic and educational activities, the Centre is active in the information and advocacy field, monitoring the state of media freedom and sharing best practice and resources for journalists. It seeks to counter threats to journalism safety and freedom in many different countries, and it promotes positive changes to laws, policy and practice concerning them.

The Internet Monitor - Stakeholders

The Internet Monitor is a research project based at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. Internet Monitor's aim is to evaluate, describe, and summarize the means, mechanisms, and extent of Internet content controls and Internet activity around the world. The project helps researchers, advocates, policymakers, and user communities understand trends in Internet health and activity through research, analysis, and data visualization.

Media Reform Coalition UK - Stakeholders

The Media Reform Coalition was set up in September 2011 to coordinate the most effective contribution by civil society groups, academics and media campaigners to debates over media regulation, ownership and democracy in the UK. Its work moves from the fact that Britain has one of the most concentrated media environments in the world, with 3 companies in control of 71% of national newspaper circulation and 5 companies in command of 81% of local newspaper titles.

The Media Reform Coalition is committed to supporting media pluralism, defending ethical journalism and protecting investigative and local journalism.

Stockholm Center for Freedom (SCF) - Stakeholders

The Stockholm Center for Freedom (SCF) is a newly launched advocacy organization that promotes the rule of law, democracy and fundamental rights and freedoms with a special focus on Turkey.

SCF, a non-proft organization, was set up by a group of journalists who have been forced to live in self-exile in Sweden against the backdrop of a massive crackdown on press freedom in Turkey.

SCF is committed to serving as a reference source by providing a broader picture of rights violations in Turkey, monitoring daily developments on fact-based investigative journalism and documenting individual cases of the infringement of fundamental rights.

International Journal of Communication - Stakeholders

The International Journal of Communication  is an online, multi-media, academic journal published by USC Annenberg Press. As an interdisciplinary journal, IJoC is centered in communication and open to contributions from the many disciplines and approaches that meet at the crossroads that is communication study.

The Journal grants public access to articles, free of charge, at no charge to authors. Contents are available to all readers under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 4.0 license.

Media, Conflict and Democratisation (MeCoDEM) - Stakeholders

The project ‘Media, Conflict and Democratisation ’ investigates the role of traditional media and ICTs in conflicts that accompany and follow transitions from authoritarian rule to more democratic forms of government.

The project si funded by the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme until 2017, and it is coordinated by the School of Media and Communication at the University of Leeds.

The project will investigate the interplay between media and democratisation conflicts in four countries: Serbia, Egypt, Kenya and South Africa.

European Law Students' Association (ELSA) - Stakeholders

ELSA is an independent organisation run by and for students in the field of European Law. ELSA has 43 Member and Observer countries with more than 300 Local Groups and 42,000 students. 

In 2015, ELSA set up an International Legal Research Group on Freedom of Expression and Protection of Journalistic Sources which conducted an investigation across 28 different countries to assess safeguards and challenges to confidentiality of journalistic sources.

Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) - Stakeholders

The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) is a consortium of organizations stretching from Eastern Europe to Central Asia. Its goal is to uncover how organized crime and corruption affect the region. To do so, OCCRP develops and publishes investigative stories, generating more than 60 cross-border investigations per year. 

OCCRP also trains reporters and partners in advanced journalism techniques, builds practical, high-use tools used to improve the efficiency of reporting and publishing and is actively reinventing in-vestigative journalism to be more interactive, more effective, more impactful and relevant to readers.

Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism - Stakeholders

The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism marks the University of Oxford's commitment to creating an international research centre in the comparative study of journalism. Anchored in the recognition of the key role of independent media in open societies and the power of information in the modern world, the Institute aims to serve as the leading forum for a productive engagement between scholars from a wide range of disciplines and the practitioners of journalism.

Established in 2006, the Institute is based at the Department of Politics and International Relations  at the University of Oxford . It brings the depth and rigour of academic scholarship of the highest standards to major issues of relevance to the world of news media. It is global in its perspective and in the content of its activities. Core funding for the Institute is provided by the Thomson Reuters Foundation .

Macedonian Institute for Media (MIM) - Stakeholders

The Macedonian Institute for Media (MIM) is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organisation founded by the Danish School of Journalism, USAID/IREX Pro Media and the Macedonian Press Centre in 2001. The Institute has gradually grown into a massive media platform in Macedonia, encompassing into its professional network the bulk of the media outlets in the country. MIM enables free and easy access to media literature, up-to-date resources for professional development and education, media research and analyses as well as opportunities for joint production. The Institute is a founder of the School of Journalism and Public Relations, an educational institution accredited by the Ministry of Education and Science, offering graduate and postgraduate studies in journalism and communication sciences.

Mission:

The mission of the Macedonian Institute for Media (MIM) is to encourage and continuously support the development of professional standards in journalism, media and public communication, aiming to support the improvement of the democratic processes in the Republic Macedonia.
